Beckett’s is a locally owned and operated Irish Pub and
Restaurant whose name was chosen to pay homage to one of Ireland’s most
talented and influential writers. Samuel Beckett was known for his searing wit
and his cynical nature and is often misunderstood as being overly dark in his
writings. While it would be a mistake to consider Beckett a “sunny” soul, his
cynicism is used to pierce the veil of societal and governmental constraints
and in turn celebrate creativity and the triumph of the human spirit over such
institutions.
As with Samuel, at Beckett’s we strive to break the mold of
the typical restaurant and celebrate culinary creativity by making everything
from scratch (even the mayonnaise!) and printing our menus daily to take
advantage of seasonal produce, seafood, and meat – and to satisfy our artistic
side by creating new dishes.
The same attention to detail that we have concerning our food
is also extended to our draft beer. Our selection consists of eight import and
craft beers, many of which can only be found at Beckett’s. With the myriad of
styles of beer available on tap nowadays, it has necessitated pubs running their
drafts with nitrogen and carbon dioxide that is bought premixed in large tanks.
This mixture while functional for stouts, ales, and lagers, does not pour all
of them at their ideal mixture for the best quality. As it is our goal to pour
the best pint in town, we invested in a splitter that takes bulk nitrogen and carbon
dioxide and specifies the optimum mix for stouts, ales, and lagers. Come by and
grab a cold one – you’ll notice the difference!
When creating the concept for Beckett’s our frame of
reference was to be able to provide the appropriate food and drink no matter
your occasion or mood. Whether you want to catch the game and have a pint and a
sandwich, warm up with a Shepherd’s Pie on a cold winter’s night, or enjoy a
romantic dinner with your loved one, Beckett’s is the place to be!
